Diego Ramos, born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and currently based in Mexico City, is a photographer with a profound ability to challenge and expand viewers’ perspectives. Educated at the International Center of Photography in New York City in 2015, Diego’s work is a testament to his passion and innovative approach to photography. His expertise in utilizing specialized optics and his experimentation with the medium have distinguished his work. Throughout his career, Diego has collaborated with prestigious clients such as Nike, Allergan, Vogue, Kate Spade, and Moda Operandi, as well as artists like Peso Pluma, Ester Exposito, and Rodrigo Prieto. However, it was not a specific project but rather a tool— an 8x10 camera— that became a pivotal point in his career. This experience reshaped his understanding and appreciation for the beauty and simplicity inherent in the process of image-making, drawing him closer to analog and large format technology. Diego’s personal interests deeply intertwine with nature and the elemental forces of the earth. Influenced by Artists such as Rosalía, Irving Penn, Avedon, Toshio Shibata, Sugimoto, Rothko, and Bryan Schutmaat, and notably inspired by Alec Soth and Paul Schiek in a recent workshop, Diego is continuously driven to reconsider the essence of the photographic medium. Diego aspires to craft work that communicates with audiences in unconventional and profound ways. His ultimate goal is to create projects that not only narrate a compelling story but are also ideally suited for presentation in book form.
